Doctors Say Daw Aung San Suu Kyi is in Good Health

Officials in Burma say detained democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi is in good health after her doctor and an eye specialist visited her for a routine check-up.

The two doctors saw her on Thursday, and said she was in good condition. Further details were not disclosed. She is allowed virtually no contact with the outside world, except for visits from her doctors.

The Nobel Peace Prize Laureate has spent most of the past 17 years under house arrest. Burma has been ruled by the military since 1962. Aung San Suu Kyi's National League for Democracy won a landslide victory in 1990 elections, but the military never allowed it to take office.
