“The military government has cracked down on peaceful monks in the past; and is reported that the Light Infantry Division (77) has been ordered to take charge of the whole security of Rangoon. The Commander of the LID (77) has opened his Command Post in a religious community hall at the foot of Shwedagon Pagoda. Rangoon Military Command has also been checking up on the possible routes entering the Capital in order to block if the situation becomes serious.  These are ominous signs of preparation for a crack down”,  Thaung Htun adds. Myanmar Monks Escalate Pressure on Junta
